Missouri tattoo studio compliance requirements

Missouri licenses both tattoo establishments and individual practitioners through the Division of Professional Registration (RSMo Ch. 324; 20 CSR 2267). Notably, the state rules do not set a spore-test frequency for permanent shops — a common point of confusion. Each requirement below links to its official source.

Not set statewide (permanent shops)

Missouri’s permanent-establishment rule (20 CSR 2267-3.010) does not specify a periodic spore-test frequency. Temporary events require a spore test within 30 days beforehand. Some counties impose their own schedule — check locally.

How Missouri compares

Spore-test cadence is where states diverge most — from weekly to quarterly. That's why a generic checklist misses; the schedule has to match your state.

* Oregon: per state Health Licensing Office guidance; confirm the current OAR. Missouri sets no statewide spore frequency for permanent shops — some counties do.
